So, same if we want to be the only one ;), The Universe of Logan's Run is not the only one webiste on Logan's run : luckily ! In First I remember you that I was created my website, after to see the magnificient website of John who is the webmaster of website "World Of Logan's Run". In First, I wanted to do a french version of "World of Logan's Run", but quickly I made a true website. Of course, we share the sames infos and sometimes the sames pictures, but John is not the only one to do a website on Logan's Run and we will see others websites and webmasters on Logan's Run. Let's Go :

Interview of John R. (Logan 5) made in 2001 :

For the people who's don't know again your website, can you to presente us your website ?
Good morning, Alexis. Thanks for this opportunity for me to discuss my Logan's Run website and LR in general for your site. My name's John R. and I run "The World of Logan's Run" Website at http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/5357 (you can clic on the banner too for to go at the website). We are presently into our 4th successful year on the Internet.

Can you tell us, how old are you and when you was discover Logan's Run ?
I'm 36 years old and first discovered LR in 1976, when the MGM film came out.

How long are you fan of Logan's Run concretely ?
I've been a fan of LR since '76, so I guess that puts me at 25 years of Logan fandom.

Except for that Logan's Run, are you a fan of others tv series (Sci-Fi; Comedy, etc.) ? New or old series of course...
During the 70's and 80's I was into lots of television shows. Mostly stuff like Logans Run, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica, the original Star Trek, the short lived Planet of the Apes television series and the original Land of the Lost series by Sid and Marty Kroft. I also enjoyed some sitcoms like "Happy Days", "Three's Company" and more recently "The Simpsons", "Seinfeld" and "Cheers". I haven't been much into any new SciFi shows. Currently, I'm into the News magazine shows (i.e. "Dateline" and "48 Hours") and the educational/documentary shows on PBS, The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. Of course, cartoons are still favorites of mine, too.

Why are you fan of Logan's Run and not a other Sci-Fi tv serie (Star-Trek; Twilight Zone; etc...) ? What was do that you are fan of this Sci-Fi title rather a other Sci-Fi serie ?
LR has always appealed to me because it was a show about survival and overthrowing deception. It has an interesting anti-hero character (Logan) who finally realizes that everything that has ever been told to him, and his fellow citizens, has been a horrific lie. Thus, Logan goes out to fight the system and in doing so, frees his people and becomes a true hero !

What is the thing who was start your passion for this title ?
The 1976 film was responsible for me getting into the world of Logan. After the movie I read the book, which I was totally shocked to find out was entirely different than the movie, and even more powerful !

What do you prefer on Logan's Run : The books of William F. Nolan; The Movie or the tv serie ? Can you explain to us why this preference (For example if you prefer the movie, why the movie more the tv serie or the books...) ?
I think that I enjoyed the books more. They were filled with much more Science Fiction elements and themes than both the movie and TV series, that I enjoy. I'm really into movies that are way out there and make you think (I'm a huge Stanley Kubrick fan, by the way), and the book was definately that and so much more! The TV series and movie are both great 'toned-down' versions of Logan's Run, but I think that an entire planet under a Death-At-21 mandate with more bizarre settings is much more thrilling and would be spectacular to see in a re-vamped film !

Why You was wanted to do a website on Logan's Run ?
Back in 1997, I noticed that Logan's Run didn't have much of a web presence on the internet. There were only 3 other Logans Run sites online back then (The Roger Wilcox FAQ, Virtual Vikki's one page Logan site and a French site that is now gone). At the time, none of these sites offered much in the way of pictures, sound clips and most importantly - a way for other Logan's Run fans to come together and talk to each other about their own fondness towards Logans Run, their own Logan experiences and even to share their Logan collectibles. Thus, I set out to make such a website; a site for the Logan community to finally have a place to come to and share their stuff and ideas, as well as a place to re-introduce this classic film to a new generation of Logan fans! Through the use of my online Circuit BBS and ParaChat Chatroom service (now done elsewhere), the site really took off. People from all over the globe started emailing me with their home-made collections, stories, questions... you name it. It is because of all of these Logan fans that my page became so popular.

Do you have successfull your objective with your website ?
I think that my objective for the site has definatley come to fruition. There are now more than 15 Logan's Run sites (many of which my visitor's have created themselves!) and it's now hard to surf the SciFi internet community in general without stumbling onto something about Logan's Run. That was my main goal .. to make sure that this great film, book and series was not forgotten and that it did have a large number of people who enjoyed it. I'm extremely proud of my work on the site and again, I'm equally thankful to everyone who has contributed items to it and helped make it such a huge success !

How was you create your website and how have you made the parts with all this persons who was come on your Website (Paul C.; Dave T.; etc.) ? The beginning was difficult ?
Again, without the help from Logan fans such as Dylan (who was one of the very first fans to find my page and email me), David T, Mark W, Paul C, and the list goes on and on... I could not have created such a detailed site! All of these fans had one day found my site and wanted to contribute something to it. I thank them and everyone who has ever vistied my site for it's success.

Do you was imagined that your website come a very important website like now ?
I had always hoped it would be a very popular site and was very surprised and astonished when Logan's Run's author, William F Nolan discovered it one day and sent me some cool stuff to post, such as giving my site the Exclusive first chapter of his latest story, "Logan's Return" !

A remake of the first Movie at now is in preparation. But we can see that the last remakes of olds tv series in a Movie are not very very good (for example : Avengers; Charlie's Angels...). Are you trustful (confident) or worried for this new Movie on Logan's Run ? You don't think that this new remake will a superabundance of specials effects with again a bad or not very good scenario ?
From what I've heard so far about Skip Woods and William F Nolan's initial meeting, I feel pretty confident that the new Logans Run movie will be even more successful and popular than the first film. Skip seems to have a true grasp on the books SciFi and moral themes and plans to keep many of those same ideas and SciFi elements that made the book so intreging. Hopefully he'll keep the whole planet at 21, the thinker at Crazy Horse and I hope to finally see the Pleasure Gypsies in this version! I'm not sure what they may do about Ballard though, but I would love to see Michael York play the part !

Are you always as much fan of Logan's Run that when you was beginning or more or less ?
Definatley ! I've always been a fan and always will be. Even though I'm not much of a die-hard collector (don't have the room for the stuff!), I'm still very much into Logan's Run.

Do you was imagined that Logan's Run is know in many many countries (USA; Europa; Australia; Japan...) ? What do you think of this ?
When I started my website, I never knew of the universal appeal Logans Run had globally. The first batch of emails I had recieved back in 1997 were from people from Australia and England mostly. Then France and America finally chimed in. I was amazed ! It just goes to show you how universal Logans themes actually are. It's a story that will continue to thrive for many more years ! With everyone's caution on global warming, war and population control - we (like Logan) continue to run and search for the answers that will help us survive.

What is your opinion on the flop of the tv serie of Logan's Run ?
I was very disappointed when they decided to cancel the series. Being a kid back in 1977, I wasn't sure what - if anything - I could do to try and bring it back, and learned to just live without it, as difficult as it was. Maybe Logan and Jessica needed to get back to the City of Domes and help the other runners escape. Maybe they needed to team up with Francis and go after the Council of Elders. There were many stand out episodes from the series ("Man Out of Time", "Carrousel" and "Judas Goat" my personal favs). I think they needed to have more proficient SciFi writers and a larger budget that CBS wasn't going to allow, so the series slowly faded away. Luckily, we were treated to 14 fun episodes (incidently, the same number of episodes that the equally fun "Planet of the Apes" TV series had).

Logan's Run is again present in the sci-fi conventions or others in your country ?
I am not an avid SciFi convention attendee; however, I do know that some booths still have a small sampling of Logan items (mostly Lifeclocks and comics). Logan is still considered a cult classic. There are still thousands of new generation SciFi fans who have never seen nor heard of it, so it's still a bit obscure. That will of course change when the new film is finally made.

Many many people are collector of the Logan's Run's props (flamegun; tracker; costumes; etc.) are you too a collector and if yes, what's the items have you do ?
Again, I'm basically a small time collector because of space limitations primarily. I own an autographed copy of the "Logan Trilogy", a set of replica LifeClocks, all the Logan comics from Marvel and Adventure comics, a dual autographed photo of Michael York and Jenny Agutter, an actual armband worn in the movie (courtesy of Paul's LogansRun.com website), and various magazines (Starlog, Dynamite, Circus, Crazy, etc.). I've never gone after the 'big' stuff (costumes, working blaster, follower), but may some day. I wished that Mego would have released their LR Action Figures back then, but alas - it wasn't meant to be (so instead I had to use my Star Trek figures to pose as Sandmen and Runners - sometimes you have to use what you got !).

Somes Logan's Run's Props are very very expensives (Costumes; Functionnal Flamegun and Trackers), what do you think of this ?
As long as the props and other collectibles are marketed 'fairly', I see no harm in this. Collectors need to understand 'fair market value' as well as item authenticity. The more available an item is and the less demand it has generates one price whereas the rarer an item is and the more demand for it, the higher the price. An item should cost what the buyer is willing to pay. Ultimately, it's the buyer who has most of the control on the price, although sellers won't agree. If something seems too high to a buyer, it probably is and can be gotten for much less money. Shop around for the best deals. Your wallet will thank you.

What's the advises you give at a new fan of Logan's Run who's will to go in the big adventure of the creation of a website on our favorite serie ?
You will find that many of the Logan site webmasters online presently are a real close knit group of people from all around the globe! We all share our fondness towards Logans Run in similar ways, yet each have something a bit different to offer for each of our own site's visitors. New Logan sites will continue to build the fanbase and could welcome in new generations of Loganites. If we all continue to keep Logan running into the new century, I'm sure that his story will continue to develop and grow! Last year, William F. Nolan has written his first new Logan adventure in the past 20 years in "Logan's Return" and if the demand and interest for Logan continues, he's already mentioned that three new 'novels' are a very good possibility ! To me, that's terrific news ! And along with the upcoming Warner Brothers remake, more Logan adventures will definately happen !

Do you have something to tell at the French Fans ?
Just hope you all keep Logan's spirit alive! Maybe one day soon, Logan will make his way back onto television as his run continues into the 21st Century !

Thanks Alexis for allowing me to share my site's history and thoughts with your visitors. Keep running...
John R. - Logan5

All the pleasure was for me John !
Alexis.

Interview of Alex Trakker made in 2001 :
URL of WebSite : http://membres.lycos.fr/logansruncgi
(or click on the logo of his website, above)
Language : French and Enlgish.
Date of creation : 1998.

For the people who's don't know again your website, can you to presente us your website ?
My website, Logan's Run CGI (CGI standing for Computer Generated Images) is basically dedicated to the "renewal" of the movie and the series universe through today's technology. I worked hard to recreate the whole City of Domes, the vehicles, and the DS props of the movie, preserving that "artificial" aspect of the City for instance. You can reach Logan's Run CGI at the following URL : http://membres.lycos.fr/logansruncgi/
The site evolved a lot since its creation in december 1998, appart from the CGI artwork I've been working on throughout the years, I also added several pages about the whole Logan's Run universe. When I first started, you simply couldn't find any good french language site on Logan's Run, so I just made sure that every single piece of information regarding the Logan's Run universe would be available to any french speaking audiences (in France, but also in Quebec for instance).

Can you tell us, how old are you and when you was discover Logan's Run ?
I am 29 years old, as a matter of fact I'm still a loyal citizen of the City of Domes ;-) I was only 4 years old when the movie was released in theaters in 1976, so unfortunatly I was just too young to see it back then. I first watched the TV Series when it was first aired on french televison in 1979. I only saw 3 episodes then : Carrousel, Night Visitors and Stargate. The funny thing is that in my memory, Carrousel and Stargate just merged to form a single episode : Logan was placed in transit and then got back to the City, Jessica and Rem were abducted and Rem dismantled, as for Francis, he was assigned by the council of Elders to go find Jessica, only to be placed in transit as well when he reached the woods... what a mix ! However in my mind, those merged episodes form a much better story than the two separate ones :) Regarding the movie, I watched it for the first time when it was first aired on french television in 1981. Of course, I was expecting Rem to appear at any moment, and I was wondering when Francis would drive his terrific vehicle ;-) Anyway, I was already a huge Logan's Run fan. I had to wait a rerun of the movie in 1988 to actually be able to tape it. The TV Series was never really subject to reruns on french television : one episode or two sometimes, but never the whole series. I had to wait till 1997 to be able to actually watch and tape the entire series on Cable TV.

How long are you fan de Logan's Run concretely ?
Since I was 7.

Except for that Logan's Run, are you a fan of others tv series (Sci-Fi; Comedy, etc.) ? New or old series of course...
Definitely. I do enjoy Star Trek : The Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and the feature films. I moved to Canada several months ago so I'll be able to watch Enterprise as soon as the series is aired in northern america. Regarding comedy shows, I love That's Seventies Show for instance, and 3rd Rock From the Sun. I also enjoy watching all cartoons and TV Series I used to be watching when I was a kid. I am a big Six Million Dollar, Wonder Woman and Planet of the Apes fan. And regarding cartoons, I love Scooby-Doo, Ufo Robot Grendizer, and Battle of The Planets.

Why are you fan de Logan's Run and not a other Sci-Fi tv serie (Star-Trek; Twilight Zone; etc...) ? what was do that you are fan of this Sci-Fi title rather a other Sci-Fi serie ?
Sometimes it's hard to know why you're such a fan of a specific movie/series... What was really fascinating in Logan's Run was the universe in which they were living : a dream city where you could enjoy every single pleasure in life. It really was about a real Utopia, Heaven on Earth. Who wouldn't like to actually be able to live without caring about the future ? Of course you know that you'll have to die at 30... but basically, when you're a 7 years old kid, you cannot simply imagine being 30 one day. Moreover, being a Sandman is fascinating : you're an elite policeman with an absolute power, and you can use that terrific Gun to terminate runners ! Of course when I was a kid, I just didn't realize how much this whole system was wrong. I was 16 years old when I could finally watch the movie for the second time in my life, and when I saw the runner hunting sequence, I was shocked by the vision of Logan and Francis really enjoying the killing. I really saw the movie with a totally different perspective, and I really realised that Logan wasn't exactly a good guy at first in the movie.

What is the thing who was start your passion for this title ?
I loved the City of Domes, the Sandmen, the Gun, and the vehicles of course ! I'm not a big fan of Logan's Solarcraft though : it looks like a heavy ugly tank. But the sleek DS Groundcars are terrific ! When I was a kid, I was wondering why the hero didn't get the beautiful vehicle instead of the bad guys ;-) Of course there were several good stories as well in the series... and watching it for the first time with the Carrousel episode (definitely the best episode in the series) : there was no way I wouldn't be a true Logan's Run fan !

What do you prefer on Logan's Run : The books of William F. Nolan; The Movie or the tv serie ? Can you explain to us why this preference (For example if you prefer the movie, why the movie more the tv serie or the books...) ?
William F. Nolan's novels are terrific. If you like Logan's Run and if you haven't read the novels yet, DO IT, you won't regret it. Sadly, the novels are somehow difficult to find : they are not printed anymore, but I'm sure you'll be able to find them at a local used-books store. Of course, finding Logan's Run novels is much more easy in the United States than it is in France : there were so many reprints ! And Logan's Search (my favorite) was never even published in France. The novels are very different from the movie and even more different than the series... so I won't even try to compare the three. I love the movie of course, but I wish there were more scenes in the City, and Logan was not an ambigous character enough. Now regarding the TV Series... and I'm afraid I won't be nice with it... the more I watch it, the more I understand why it was canceled that soon. I share William F. Nolan's opinion regarding the series : Logan just didn't deserve becoming a "formula show". Basically, it was the same thing every week (which was the producers decision and main reason why William F. Nolan decided he wouldn't be involved in the series) : Logan is driving his solarcraft, he stumbles on people who have a problem, he solves the problem thanks to the help of Jessica and Rem, they sometimes avoid being caught by Francis (who worst of all, fails to appear on all episodes), they even save his life sometimes (which is really stupid), and they leave aboard the solarcraft in the sunset. So, basically, no arc-storytelling, no continuity, episodes can be aired in any order... Logan definitely deserved a better series concept. However, despite its numerous flaws, we all love this series. And technicaly speaking, it was definitely a high budget sci-fi series with laser effects, high-tech designs and so on... plus Rem is a really great character.

Why You was wanted to do a website on Logan's Run ?
There wasn't any good french language site about Logan's Run when I started designing my website. When the decision was made to create mine, I knew that I wouldn't simply clone an existing site by simply cutting/pasting/translating an existing one. I wanted to create a truly unique new Logan's Run experience by recreating the movie/series universe using CGI.

Do you have successfull your objective with your website ?
When I started designing the site, I thought I was the only one in France to remember or care about Logan's Run. I was asking my friends if they remembered the show and most of the time I was getting this kind of answers : "Logan's Run ? What the hell is that ?". When I realized how much designing a website was a huge amount of work, I had some doubts : I tought I was doing this for nothing and that I would be my own visitor... Thank God, it didn't happen that way !

How was you create your website and how have you made the parts of your Website (the pictures in 3D, the props and the City of Domes...) ? the beginning was difficult ?
Oh yes, it was very hard in the beguining. First of all, I had to learn programming again. The last time I programmed something was an adventure game in Basic on my old 8bit computer in 1987 (an Amstrad CPC which was never released in America). So I had to start learning HTML programming which is (thanks to the engineers) an easy language. Then I learned Javascript and I'm currently learning Flash. Now regarding the CGI rendition of the City... that represented a huge amount of work. First of all, before even running your favorite 3D sofware, you have to make many sketchs of the different buildings. I ruined my old movie VHS on playbacks, pauses, etc... because basically, you have to guess what you can't see on screen... some buildings were really difficult to reproduce, and sometimes I just made them slightly different on purpose : the DS building is taller, and the DS groundcar is longer, I designed them that way because I thought they looked better that way. The DS groundcar by the way was a nightmare to do, the one on my website must be my 15th version or so... however, the Gun and Follower were quite easy to do.

Do you was imagined that your website come a very important website like now ?
Definitely not. I get several e-mails every week, people telling me how much they enjoyed their visit... of course this is really encouraging and I still can't believe that there are some people out there who really like my work. Without any visitors, site updates would have stopped a long time ago.

I just saw this horrible Planet of the Apes remake, and I never imagined Tim Burton could be responsible for making such a crap. Tim Burton is a really good director, but his remake of the Planet of the Apes is a complete failure. Now regarding Logan's Run, we simply don't know what Skip Woods is capable of. However, regarding the Logan's Run remake, I want to set the record straight : the Logan's Run movie which will be directed by Skip Woods is definitely not the 1976 movie remake. It's a new attempt at bringing the original novel to the screen. Therefore, the new Logan's Run movie will hopefully be a 100% new movie with a different storyline, and a complete new design. Forget about the City of Domes, Carrousel and compulsory Death at 30. This time it's about the whole planet, and you have to die at 21. Sandmen are much more dangerous operatives and their weapons way more powerful and lethal. Logan will hopefully be a much more complex character (doubting, suffering, and if he's true to the book, not very sympathetic at first).

Are you always as much fan of Logan's Run that when you was beginning or more or less ?
Still the same fan as always.

Do you was imagined that Logan's Run is know in many many countries (USA; Europa; Australia; Japan...) ? What do you think of this ?
I learned that Logan's Run was popular in Japan not so long ago. However, no one I know in Canada seems to remember about it... but I still get some e-mails from fans from Quebec sometimes.

What is your opinion on the flop of the tv serie of Logan's Run ?
With another concept and better stories, the series could have lasted for several seasons. The writers aren't really that responsible for the series failure : Dorothy Fontana and David Gerold for instance are good screenplay writers who wrote excellent Star Trek episodes before Logan. Anyone who's been mad about the series cancelation should blame Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts. Ok, they are good producers when it comes to Charlie's Angels, but they had a lot to learn about producing sci-fi shows. Now, another reason why the series wasn't successul is (in my opinion)... George Lucas : Star Wars was such a quantum leap in sci-fi design and directing, that in some way I think it "killed" Logan.

Logan's Run is again present in the sci-fi conventions or others in your country ?
In France, I never heard about anything. In Quebec neither, but I arrived here only 6 months ago. Hopefully, the U.S.A aren't far from here ;-)

Many many people are collector of the Logan's Run's props (flamegun, tracker; costumes; etc.) are you too a collector and if yes, what's the items have you do ?
Well... our friend Paul from LogansRun.com has bought almost every single costume and prop from the movie, so there isn't much left ;-) ... hopefully some of these props are on sale on his site so anyone can buy genuine costumes and jewelry at a reasonnable price. Now regarding my own personnal collection, I just placed an order for a functionning Sandman's Gun.

Somes Logan's Run's Props are very very expensives (Costumes; Functionnal Flamegun and Trackers), what do you think of this ?
Well basically, when props are produced on limited quantities, of course production costs are higher. That's why DS Guns are expensive for instance. Moreover, functionning guns are made out of metal and the mechanism inside is really tricky to do because of safety concerns. Now, in my opinion, I always thought that non functionning flameguns aren't worth the price people are asking for. Of course costumes replicas are a bit expensive when you just look at there prices, but you should consider that these costumes are made according to your specific size, and that they're not made in vast quantities like sportswear for instance. Therefore, considering all these elements, I do think that costumes replicas aren't overpriced. Now regarding Logan's Run merchandise, there are many affordable items : lifeclock replicas are cheap, for a reasonnable price you can buy a genuine movie piece of jewelry on Paul's site... there are novels editions (some of which are really cheap, others are hugely expensive), comic books for you to collect, and so on... some people are even creating toys nowadays !

What's the advises you give at a new fan of Logan's Run who's will to go in the big adventure of the creation of a website on our favorite serie ?
Depends on one's ambition, and the amount of time one will spend on the site. I don't think there will be a single webmaster denying the fact that running a website is a huge amount of work, particularly if they are to be updated on a regurlar basis. Now, my advice for anyone willing to start his own Logan's Run site (or on any other subject) : please, be original and innovative. Replicating someone's work is useless : fans will eventually notice that and won't visit your site anymore because it has nothing more than the one you've been ripping-off the contents. So basically, you must find that little something the others don't have yet, and that will make people like your site and come back on a regular basis. Now regarding Logan related CGI for instance, there are already 2 sites dealing with that : mine and Darren's from Australia. Darren began working on his rendition of the City several years before me, but he decided to create his own site only after he visited mine.

Do you have something to tell at the French Fans ?
Keep Logan alive ! I'm living in Canda now, but my site is still on a french server and I'm still working on it so people from France or here in Quebec will (hopefully) never forget that Logan is still running.

Can you explain us exactly : what is "The Official Logan's Run Webring" ?
" The Official Logan's Run Webring" was created to replace the former webring since its creator posted some difamatory and calomnious messages towards William F. Nolan on a Logan's Run related board. William F. Nolan had to post an official statement to clear his name and to set the record straight. The Official Logan's Run Webring was created from the Logan's Run community members willingness to avoid such things to happen again in the future.

How are we doing for to join your Webring and who's can to join your Webring ?
Joining the webring is really easy. Just go to my site or any ring member's site (Paul's, John's Darren's...), locate the Ring navbar, and clic on Join WebRing. Of course, to be a ring member, being a Logan's Run webmaster is required.

What's yours relationship with the others webmasters of Logan's Run Websites (John, Paul, etc.)
They're good. We have a weekly chatroom rendez-vous every Monday nights at the following URL : http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/logansrunmoviefans. Any Logan's Run fan is always welcome. Caution, this chatroom is for english speaking audiences. Even worse for european people : it's at 8 PM EST (2 AM in Paris !). So I currently working on adding a french speaking chatroom on my site for all french speaking Logan's Run fan !

Thank you very much again Alex !!!
Alexis.

Thanks to you.
Alex Trakker.

Interview of Vikki made in 2001 :
URL of the WebSite : http://www.snowcrest.net/fox/loganbook/index.htm
(or click on the logo of the website, above)
Language : All in English.
Date of creation : 1994.

For the people who's don't know again your website, can you to presente us your website ?
The City of Domes is the web's longest 'running' Logan web site. Online in the same location since 1994. over the years it has grown from one page to well over 60 pages of content. The site looks into all aspects of Logan's world including: Comics, Books, Fandon, Costumes, Movie, TV Series.Audio and Video sections allow you to hear interviews, deleted scenes, etc. and watch short video clips including some wonderfully restored 'missing' sequences A big emphasis is on the TV series and the production of the movie. This site features many high resolution photo galleries form both the movie and TV series.

Can you tell us, how old are you and when you was discover Logan's Run ?
One of my friends saw the movie and used to chase me around the playground pretending to be a sandman. Since I had not seen the film this was a bit creepy. I did not go see the film. I first got into Logan's Run when the movie was first on TV, but for me it was the TV series which absolutely captivated me. They showed the movie on TV shortly before introducing the new TV series on the CBS network. I lived in an area where the local station played the series on a different night form another network station we had so I got to see most of the episodes two times during the original broadcasts. Everytime I see a bottle of Joy dish washing liquid I cannot help but think of the TV series (Joy was one of the regular sponsors of the series) I made my own Flamegun out of wood, wood putty, and PVC pipe. I wrote in to CBS when the show was canceled. At one point I even made a sandman costume and wore it to a few conventions. I joined the Logan's Run Organization of Fans and was a member until it folded. I finally got to see the movie on the big screen in 1979 on a double feature with Alien at a drive in theater in New Mexico. I also joined the United Sandmen and when that club was going to fold, I asked to take on the job of publishing the club's annual fanzine (issues 7-10) which I did until the mid 1980's when the membership shrunk to only about 12 members. An attempt was made to bring the fanzine back during the late 1890's. This resulted in Samdman Sentinel #11 which had very limited circulation and is now online in PDF format. When I created my web site in 1994 I went in for an all black and white look. For the first few years all the pictures on the site were in black and white. I also used a lot of red drop shadows. Later I decided color would look better. There are still a few of the original pages on my web site.

How long are you fan de Logan's Run concretely ?
I think I answered that one above...

Except for that Logan's Run, are you a fan of others tv sZ¹ries (Sci-Fi; Comedy, etc.) ? New or old series of course...
Before Logan's Run I was into The Starlost ( a short lived Canadian series) and Star Trek. I really enjoyed Fantastic Journey. Another very short lived science fiction series form 1977. Many of the production team on that series also worked on Logan's Run and it has a very similar feel to it. I was a huge QUARK fan. QUARK was a short lived Buck Henry show starring Richard Benjamin as Adam Quark (a pun in itself) a space garbage collector who every so often saves the galaxy. I was also very much a fan of Doctor Who during the 1980's and did a lot of conventions meeting six of the actors who played the Doctor. I was also involved with a variety of fan clubs. I was secretary for the International Myth Adventures Fan club for several years and at one point editor of the fanzine. Myth Adventures was a series of novels, comics, and graphic novels. I was also president of Chico State WHOniversity (the local college science fiction club. Also known as Masters of the WHOniverse and hosted many pledge breaks on the local PBS station raising money to keep Doctor Who on the air. We also had our own newsletter/fanzine which ran for 40+ issues and created two well known Doctor Who amateur filsm The Zombie Legions in 1987 and Those Darn Daleks in 1989.

Why are you fan de Logan's Run and not a other Sci-Fi tv serie (Star-Trek; Twilight Zone; etc...) ? what was do that you are fan of this Sci-Fi title rather a other Sci-Fi serie ?
I think I like most science fiction. I watch and read a variety of things. My web site features about eight science fiction series. As for Logan's Run... As a youth I liked the concept of the perfect world the movie offered. There was no crime for the most part, people seemed happy and polite, there was no war, etc. So as a youth I wished I could live in that world. Being 30 seemed a long way off.

What is the thing who was start your passion for this title ?
(Not Answer, perhaps it's in above.).

What do you prefer on Logan's Run : The books of William F. Nolan; The Movie or the tv serie ? Can you explain to us why this preference (For example, if you prefer the movie, why the movie more the tv serie or the books...) ?
I think of all the Logan's Run 'versions' I prefer the second draft of the Nolan Johnson screenplay written in the late 1960's. This draft is very true to the book and allows the readers to view the movie how it should have been made. Following that I am a big fan of the very early drafts of the Goodman screenplay. he really was quite a writer. Unfortunately his script was hacked to shreds (as are most movie scripts) before it was filmed. Early drafts of the Goodman script can be found on the web site. Following that I liked the continuing aspects of the Logan's Run TV series.

Why You was wanted to do a website on Logan's Run ?
At the time there was no information on Logan's Run on the internet, so adding a page about Logan's Run seemed like a good idea at the time.

Do you have successfull your objective with your website ?
(Not Answer, perhaps it's in above.).

How was you find all yours pictures on the tv serie and The Movie an all yours informations ?
Many of the photos on the web site came from my obsessive collecting at conventions. Some dealers knew me on sight. I would pick up anything I could find. Film clips, slides, photos, scripts. Anything I could get my hands on. At the time I really had no idea why I wanted all this stuff. Now the Internet allows me to share my collection with others around the world. Many of the pictures and items on my web site are donated by generous individuals like Robert Yancy, Mark Taylor, Eric Popejoy and others. Through the web site I have been able to meet many more fans of the series.

Do you was imagined that your website come a very important website like now ?
(Not Answer.).

A remake of the first Movie at now is in preparation. But we can see that the last remakes of olds tv series in a Movie are not very very good (for example : Avengers; Charlie's Angels...). Are you trustful (confident) or worried for this new Movie on Logan's Run ?You don't think that this new remake will a superabundance of specials effects with again a bad or not very good scenario ?
I think some recent re-makes have been very good. I really enjoyed the Addams Family movie. I think it was true to the spirit of both the original comics and the TV series. I think the new movie will be worth watching and I might consider a page of information about it, but I currently have no plans to do so. I am really interested in the Logan's Run of my youth. I am glad that a new generation will get to know some version of the story. I think the version Skip Woods is thinking of will combine the best elements of the book with some of the better elements of the 1976 movie. However I will believe the movie when they start filing it. A sequel / remake has been in the works since 1980 and not much has happened since then. I hope that when the new movie eventually comes out they will release the TV series on DVD. I would love to have a good uncut copy of that !

Are you always as much fan of Logan's Run that when you was beginning or more or less ?
I think that by creating this web site that I have learned far more than I ever imagined I would ever learn about Logan's Run. I am always finding out some new or unusual production facts and the process form the written word to the screen fascinates me. I am now more of a Logan fan than I ever was before.

Do you was imagined that Logan's Run is know in many many countries (USA; Europa; Australia; Japan...) ? What do you think of this ?
I used to try to get episode of Logan's Run on videotape from other collectors. Some of these came in the form of camera recordings off the screen from different countries. ( Logan's run was not shown in the US form 1977-1990) I have a few episodes which were shown in Norway and subtitled in the native language.. very badly subtitled. It seems the French are big fans of the movie and TV series. If you look for web sites you are bound to run into some French Logan's Run sites.

What is your opinion on the flop of the tv serie of Logan's Run ?
I loved the TV series. However it did have a very bad pilot. If you go back and watch the episodes they get quite a bit better by the end. CBS did some really annoying things. First they moved the timeslot and day. It is hard to build an audience if you keep moving the show and make it hard for the viewer to find. Secondly they also interrupted it with specials and sports events on many occasions making it even harder to find. I think they needed to find a specific audience to reach. It really was not the best family show. However it was not action packed enough to keep the teen audience glued to the set.

Logan's Run is again present in the sci-fi conventions or others in your country ?
Well during the late 70's there were 'runs' at conventions. Basically a guy in a Sandman outfit would be chasing a runner or two around. These were banned by almost all conventions in 1979. There were some good conventions which had Logan content in the late 1970's My favorite was the 1979 Fantasy Symposium in San Jose CA. They had almost all the matte paintings form the movie on display. Both Nolan and Johnson were there. They screen the advance preview trailer. Bill Blake was in the dealers room with his original working flamgun from the movie. Today Logan's Run is an occasional prop or a folder of photos on some dealers room table.

Many many people are collector of the Logan's Run's props (flamegun, tracker; costumes; etc.) are you too a collector and if yes, what's the items have you do ?
Well I have a death mask Bill Blake made. I have a collection of flameguns made over the years by various fans. Mostly of the movie gun but I also have one of the modified TV version. I am currently buying a working repro of the movie gun. Someplace I have a box of lifeclocks made by Bill Blake and others.

What is the props that your prefer ? The Flamegun, The Tracker...? And Why ?
(Not Answer.).

Somes Logan's Run's Props are very very expensives (Costumes; Functionnal Flamegun and Trackers), what do you think of this ?
If it is something you want then the price is not all that high. When I collect things these days it is generally to put them up on the web site for others to enjoy. I never really had an urge to collect costumes. They eventually tend to wear out or be eaten by moths. Props on the other hand, with good care, tend to last quite a bit longer. I have some original Star Wars props which are holding up quite nicely.

What's the advises you give at a new fan of Logan's Run who's will to go in the big adventure of the creation of a website on our favorite serie ?
I think the biggest problem is the amount of time it takes to work on a web site. If you have a lot of free time then you will do well. I have as many pages of content as I do because I have had a lot of time over they years to add and change things. I work at it a little each week. Currently I have a lot of stuff to scan or add to the pages. My big problem is that I do not have enough time to add all the things I want to.

Do you have something to tell at the French Fans ?
I am glad that the fans in France are helping to keep Logan fandom alive! Keep up the good work !

Are you will to put on your website the sequence where we see David Hasselhof in a Sandman Costume ???
I have heard that he was in the movie. I was a big Knight Rider fan when it was on. I have been unable to identify him. One of my current projects is my Who Is Who in Logan's Run page. Which eventually will attempt to identify many of the minor characters.

What is your relationships with the others webmasters (Paul; John; Alex Trakker...) ?
I think they are doing something wonderful. Each has unique and interesting Logan related content. I hope one of them will cover the upcoming movie well. I have really been enjoying the Logan's Run mailing lists. It is great to have other people to ask questions about Logan stuff and to share knowledge.

Thank you very much Again !!!
Alexis.

For the people who's don't know again your website, can you to presente us your website ?
My site is 27 pages of my computer art based on my memories of the movie. I didn't refer to any material while preparing these images so that they would be based on my impressions of the film, not exact reproductions. It is interesting therefore, to see how the remembered article differs from the real article and what elements stand out in the mind. I feel the dream like impression of the tour is a reflection of this, hence the use of black for the background-like in a dream. I used 3D Studio (the DOS version) to make a 3D model of the City from the movie. The city exists within the domes on my computer model, so the tour is not composed of scenes from different models, but different views of the one complete model. I then blew it up at the end like in the movie. The detailed maze car sits in a tube in the City model, and also appears in the Arcade model. The interiors of the buildings can be placed inside buildings if I wanted to, by merging them, but as my PC's memory is limited I have chosen to keep the Arcade (complete with the New You Shop) and the Thinker models separate. The first page is an introduction, quoting a movie trailer from 1976 with links to the main Logan's Run sites and my other graphics sites. This then links to the graphics pages that take you progressively through the plot of the movie, like a storyboard- I am not aware of another site like this, and feel it is an effective means to introduce people unfamiliar with the movie to the story line.

Can you tell us, how old are you and when you was discover Logan's Run ?
I'm 35 years old (in other words, a very good runner), and discovered Logans Run in 1976 when I was a yellow (10).

How long are you fan de Logan's Run concretely ?
25 Years.

Except for that Logan's Run, are you a fan of others tv series (Sci-Fi; Comedy, etc.) ? New or old series of course...
Space 1999, UFO, both English 70's TV series, and sorta Star Trek.

Why are you fan de Logan's Run and not a other Sci-Fi tv serie (Star-Trek; Twilight Zone; etc...) ? What was do that you are fan of this Sci-Fi title rather a other Sci-Fi serie ?
I love the idea of Logans Run, the sets, the fashions, etc.

What is the thing who was start your passion for this title ?
The opening scene of the City blew me away as a kid, it was the most beautiful thing I'd seen.

What do you prefer on Logan's Run : The books of William F. Nolan; The Movie or the tv serie ? Can you explain to us why this preference (For example if you prefer the movie, why the movie more the tv serie or the books...) ?
The movie looked great, but the storyline was pretty lousy. The book is brilliant, and with the exception of its non inclusion of the Domed City idea would make a far superior, albeit longer, movie.

Why You was wanted to do a website on Logan's Run ?
Tried to make a bolsa wood model of the City as a kid, now I have CGI.

Do you have successfull your objective with your website ?
The 3MileComplex model needs improvement.

It's was long time for to made yours pictures in 3D, made your website ? what is the softwares that you use for made it ?
I worked flat out on it over a couple of months in my free time, especially during the semester break using 3D Studio.

Do you was imagined that your website come a very important website like now ?
I actually hoped I'd get more hits, or I probably wouldn't have bothered.

A remake of the first Movie at now is in preparation. But we can see that the last remakes of olds tv series in a Movie are not very very good (for example : Avengers; Charlie_s Angels...). Are you trustful (confident) or worried for this new Movie on Logan's Run ? You don't think that this new remake will a superabundance of specials effects with again a bad or not very good scenario ?
If it sticks to the book, exactly, and they consult William F.Nolan to get the 70's feel to it then the story will be successful, as the current generation are really into the 70's right now, and as this won't last, now is the best time for it. I was just involved as an extra in a the Computer Associates Empire TV ad in Sydney, and it was very 70's style- I was in a black motorcycle helmet an French style riot gear on a pier with forty other 'riot cops' while the main actor drove past in a 60's open cadillac, with 60's suited bodyguards running alongside. 70's vogue.

Are you always as much fan of Logan's Run that when you was beginning or more or less ?
Beginning more so, inbetween hardly at all, but in the last four years I renewed my interest, maybe a millennium retro type thing.

Do you was imagined that Logan's Run is know in many many countries (USA; Europa; Australia; Japan...) ? What do you think of this ?
It is catchy.

What is your opinion on the flop of the tv serie of Logan's Run ?
Couldn't been improved, low budget, not close enough to the book or the movie.

Logan's Run is again present in the sci-fi conventions or others in your country ?
Not really.

Many many people are collector of the Logan's Run's props (flamegun, tracker; costumes; etc.) are you too a collector and if yes, what's the items have you do ?
I still own a movie poster and comic books and annuals from when I was a kid, but purchased nothing since bar the video.

What is the props that your prefer ? The Flamegun, The Tracker ? And Why ?
The Flamegun and crystal. The tracker doesn't look much.

Somes Logan's Run's Props are very very expensives (Costumes; Functionnal Flamegun and Trackers), what do you think of this ?
It's a pity. If they had sold Flamegun toys when I was a kid I would have bought one, as I was forced to carve one from bolsa wood.

What's the advises you give at a new fan of Logan's Run who's will to go in the big adventure of the creation of a website on our favorite serie ?
Not that my site really does this as well as it should, but you should create a unique style that sets you page apart, but reflects your own personal unique impressions of the movie. Getting your own feelings out is the key, not just repackaging other peoples.

Do you have something to tell at the French Fans ?
A French produced and styled movie could be intersting. I love the French style and watch alot of French movies on the multicultural channel here to escape the nauseating McDonalds style bang bang / homicide American stuff.

What is your relationships with the others webmasters ?
I know some of them, Tim, Alex, John...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH DARREN.
Alexis.
